Carmina Burana a San Gimignano
The Academy of Leggieri, in collaboration with the Knights of Saint Fina, l’’associazione Labirinto Armonico e il Comune di San Gimignano, within the festival San Gimignano Estate 2013 presenta la cantata scenica Carmina Burana a San Gimignano in piazza del Duomo lunedì 5 August at 21,15, with music by Carl Orff, in the version for only, choir, percussion and two pianos prepared by the same author.
The texts in Latin, High German, and Provencal Carmina, contained in a manuscript dating from the thirteenth century from the convent of Benediktbeuren in Germany, go perfectly with the 'historic atmosphere of the city: the staging with costumes reconstructed from models of the time shows up the re-enactment taking the listener back to the time when the texts were written, which is the same period in which flourished the medieval town of San Gimignano.
La direzione musicale è affidata al M° Filippo Conti, together with the Academy Vocal City of Livorno and the three soloists, the tenor Nicola Marchesini, il soprano Laura Andreini e il baritono Carlo Morini. Alla musica si uniscono le performances di mangiatori di fuoco, mimi, dancers, acrobats and stilt walkers in a magical blend of art and arts.
It is directed by Geri Thomas.
